The New York Yankees: Steinbrenners Toys Are Defective

Billion Dollar Stadium

Half Billion Dollar Payroll

Priceless

Before I am attacked by Yankee fans everywhere, please read objectively.  In the recent years that The New York Yankees had some success, the wins were produced from the homegrown talent.  There were only one, maybe two free agent signings every season.  George Steinbrenner relied on his minor league system to produce talent and it often did.

Steinbrenner is the neighbor who now has to have the nicest car, the biggest television, the loudest surround system and the biggest steak on his new grill.  Congrats George, you win.  You have the biggest car (Mark Teixera), the biggest television (your new scoreboard screen), the loudest surround system (Joe Girardi and Brian Cashman), and the biggest steak (CC Sabathia) on your new grill (New Yankees Stadium Mound).

I would advise you to go back into your toybox and find things that used to work pretty good.  Sure, they didn’t cost as much, but they were just as fun!  One of your newer toys is broke (A-Rod) because he tried to use bigger batteries, but he is getting fixed soon.  That John-In-The-Box (Johnny Damon) sure doesn’t crank like it used to.

It is a shame that a guy can spend so much money in today’s poor economy and get average returns.
