It looks like I will be covering the Mahoning Valley Scrappers this season.  I am excited for this opportunity and cant wait to cover the Cleveland Indians-affiliated group in Niles.  Remember, there have been some pretty solid guys who played for the Scrappers.  How about CC Sabathia, Ryan Church, and Victor Martinez, for starters.  I am encouraging everyone in the area to get to a Scrappers game this year to see the couple of guys who will be big-league stars someday.  I am also covering the Thunder and will opt to go to their game tonight instead of the Scrappers opener.  They only have a couple of games left and have been good to me.  The beauty of covering both is that the Scrappers play so many more games, so I will make my share after this hectic week.

The Indians are still in the crappy divisional AL Central race.  Their bullpen couldn’t get 6 outs in most minor league games without giving up a couple of runs, but the offense is carrying the weight to keep Eric Wedge floating along.  Here are other great stories:

I made it back from Vegas in one piece.  Sorry there has not been much content for you guys, I will be working hard this week to catch up.  The sign (shown above) looks a whole lot prettier when you are flying in than when you are leaving.  I will be doing a story later this week about the trip and an editorial to highlight my experiences and observations.  For now, here are the best of the best I could find to hold you over!

Penguins played so bad last night, lost their composure and ended up getting smashed by Detroit.  Orlando and LA go back at it tonight.  Here are some stories worth checking out:

Unique in comparison to any other personality to ever play the game of football.  That would be my way of describibg the great Jack Lambert.  Lambert, at last report, was a Pennsylvania game warden sitting in trees, waiting for the hunter who cheated.  Here are some great stories from other sites.

• John Salley is a PETA hypocrite.  The sworn vegetarian eats a rats tail on reality television as caught by Hugging Harold Reynolds.
• Brady Anderson is pissed at Sports Illustrated for naming Peter Angelos the worst owner in MLB as found by Steady Burn.
• NESW Sports presents the first installment of this weeks Interweb.  This weeks interweb features some pretty cool clicks such as Lebron not being the only player to avoid shaking hands, a Beatles Rock Band Trailer, as well as much more great stuff.

Mixed emotions in Cleveland and Pittsburgh sports this week.  The Pens have dug themselves a 2-0 hole against a strong Red Wings team.  The Cavs are out (more on that later).  The Pirates can’t score runs in close games.  The Indians, however, took 2 of 3 from the New York Yankees.  Carl Pavano has done well this season, maybe causing New York brass to scratch their heads and wonder why they didn’t keep him.  Here are some great stories from other sites.
